Queen’s University Faculty, Mastercard Foundation Fellows, colleagues from the University of Gondar, and international consultants participated in two Curriculum Development Workshops in March/April 2020 to support the development of the new Occupational Therapy (OT) Program at the Univeristy of Gondar (UoG) in Ethiopia through the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program! Although we had planned to host the April workshop in person with colleagues joining us from Ethiopia, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we implemented this workshop online instead. The goals of these most recent workshops were to develop specific syllabi for the new undergraduate OT Program at UoG. Faculty collaborated with international stakeholders to design and develop innovative and culturally relevant occupational therapy content. The workshops followed the first curriculum workshop that was completed in Ethiopia at UoG in October 2019 where we developed overarching themes and course titles in collaboration with multiple international and Ethiopian stakeholders. We now have drafts of all course content and are moving forward with refining and finalizing all content. We anticipate that the OT program will be up and running at the University of Gondar by October, 2021. Thank you to all those Queen’s University and University of Gondar community members who contributed their expertise, time and effort to this great initiative! We look forward to continued collaboration on this and other initiatives with the University of Gondar over the years.
