The Mastercard Foundation Program office at UoG is enabling bright and talented staff members to study abroad at one of Canada’s prestigious universities. Every Year University of Gondar faculty members are able to apply for scholarship opportunities at Queens University located in Kingston, Canada. The programs that are offered are a part of an elaborately drawn out curriculum to create a better and more inclusive environment here in Ethiopia.
To better equip the staff members the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UoG is working with the British Council to advance the English Language Skills of its faculty members. From October 7-11, 2019 the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Gondar will be training 22 of its staff members to prepare them for an upcoming test in mid October.
The office hopes to elevate the scores of the participants who will be applying for scholarships at Queens University. Furthermore, since English Language proficiency is one of the criteria for acceptance the Mastercard office believes the training is in the best interest of UoG’s staff members.
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Gondar has been on a path towards educating many groups in Ethiopia. By offering scholarship opportunities to 450 people with disabilities and disadvantages the Scholars program has been setting a standard for inclusive education not only in Ethiopia but, undoubtedly, globally.
