Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Hosts Inclusive Learning Experience Sharing Event

Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program’s Scholars Council held a vibrant experience-sharing event on April 12, 2025, at the Maraki campus.

 

Opening the event, Dr. Nega Mihret, Part A Manager of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, highlighted the importance of such gatherings, emphasizing that they reflect the Mastercard Foundation’s core principles of working together and co-creation and noted that strong relationships among Scholars, staff, and stakeholders are key to the the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program’s ongoing success.

Dr. Meseret Kassie, Part B Manager of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, encouraged the Mastercard Foundation Scholars to make the most of their scholarship by gaining the knowledge and skills needed to not only improve their own lives but also the lives of their communities.

Scholars Council President, Mr. Endihnew Mitiku, on his part explained that the event fulfilled a promise made during the recent council elections to create more opportunities for engagement. He pledged continued efforts to host similar events and called on participants to give back through community service and mutual support.

 

The event’s guest speaker, Dr. Solomon Tekle, shared his personal journey and the power of mentorship. He spoke about the success of one of his mentees, an alumna of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, as a testament to the impact of connection, perseverance, and consistent effort. Dr. Solomon also underscored the importance of understanding one’s environment in overcoming challenges.

The day was filled with engaging activities including poetry, traditional music, experience sharing, and interactive games, all aimed at celebrating diverse experiences and talents.
