The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program is coming on its sixth year at the University of Gondar and is steadily growing into a Program that is second to none in the region and the world. The 10-year program, which is funded by the Mastercard Foundation, is creating an environment where talented people with disabilities and disadvantages are given an opportunity to become transformative leaders with the assistance of full educational funding, assistive devices, laptops, monthly stipends and so much more.
In addition to the Program accepting Ethiopian Scholars from all parts of the country, the Program is also set on educating talented youth from the horn of Africa. Scholars from Somalia, Djibouti, South Sudan, and Eritrea all have an opportunity to apply and gain a once-in-a-lifetime education at the University of Gondar which is fully funded. With that being said the program office has welcomed its new batch of graduate Scholars who will be studying in different disciplines. The international scholars met with the Director of the Program Dr. Molalign Belay, Part A Manager Mr. Geta Asrade and Graduate Coordinator Mr. Nega Miheret to discuss a number of things which included their expectations, challenges, and the way forward.
