The Scholars Program at UoG Offered a Sign Language Training to its Faculty Members

The Scholars Program at the University of Gondar has organized a one week training in sign language. Faculty from all parts of the University encompassing directors, instructors, admin staff and the likes took part to make the University of Gondar a more inclusive institution. This year the Scholars Program has accepted talented youth with disabilities who are studying in various fields. In addition these competent and able individuals, with varying degrees of disabilities, will be expected to lead their communities and become transformative leaders in the near future. Notwithstanding such training as the one being conducted can only help UoG cater to its wide array of students and Scholars.

The participants will receive a certificate of completion that attests to their proficiency in sign language as well.

Moving forward thoughts on how to create a more inclusive environment for people with disabilities was raised. Many participants, on their last day of training, brought up the fact that such training can only create a better educational institution and that it should be expanded to many more people through the academic year.
